How to reduce data while roaming with MTX sim cards

To help you optimize your data usage while roaming and reduce costs, here are some practical recommendations to avoid incurring extra charges on roaming data traffic.

1. Use Wi-Fi Whenever Possible:

Always connect to a Wi-Fi network when available, especially for activities like downloading large files or streaming videos.
Set your phone to automatically connect to known Wi-Fi networks to minimize the use of mobile data.

2. Download Content Offline When on Wi-Fi:

Use services like Netflix, Spotify, and YouTube to download movies, music, and videos while connected to Wi-Fi. This way, you can enjoy them offline without using mobile data.

3. Set Data Limits and Warnings:

On Android:
Open Settings.
Tap Network & internet > Data usage > Mobile data usage.
Set data limits and warnings to get notifications when you're approaching your data cap.

On iPhone:
Open Settings.
Tap Mobile Service > open the MTX SIM settings.
Turn on Low Data Mode.

4. Restrict Background Data Usage:

On Android:
Open Settings.
Tap Network & internet > Data usage.
Select App data usage and restrict background data for individual apps.

On iPhone:
Open Settings.
Tap General > Background App Refresh and turn it off for apps you don't need.

5. Use Data Saving Modes in Apps:

Many apps like YouTube, Netflix, and Spotify offer data-saving modes that reduce the quality of streaming or limit data usage.
Activate these modes within the app settings.

6. Monitor Data Usage:

Regularly check your data usage to identify apps or activities that consume a lot of data.
On Android:
Open Settings.
Tap Network & internet > Data usage > Mobile data usage.

On iPhone:
Open Settings.
Tap Mobile Service and scroll down to see the data usage by each app.

7. Disable Automatic Updates and Downloads:

On Android:
Open Google Play Store.
Tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines) > Settings > Auto-update apps.
Select Don't auto-update apps.

On iPhone:
Open Settings.
Tap App Store.
Turn off App Updates and Automatic Downloads.

8. Use Offline Maps:

Download maps for offline use in Google Maps or other navigation apps while on Wi-Fi to avoid using data for navigation.

By following these recommendations, you can significantly reduce your mobile data usage and avoid downloading large files or streaming movies while on a cellular network.
